Amedeo Modigliani is an artist-sculpture similar in stature to Vincent Van Gogh. In stylistic terms he was an oddity: contemporary with the Cubists, but not part of their movement, he forms a bridge between the generation of Toulouse-Lautrec and the Art Deco painters of the 1920s. Francisco Goya painter to the Spanish Crown is regarded both as the last of the Old Masters and as the first of the moderns. The subversive and subjective element in his art, as well as his bold handling of paint, provided a model for the work of future generations of artists, including Picasso.

Clendenin having studied and performed classical and pop music over the years brings an intimate knowledge of musicians similar to Goya promoting the excitement of his musical relationship with the musicians in his paintings. Not all of Bernard Clendenin's musicians are posted on the web site as the originals were sold during his early years.
